Teaching & Learning » Learning Support
ISSL has an open access policy and aims to meet the learning needs of all students.
Amongst the student body there is a wide diversity of culture, language and educational experience.
Provision is available to meet the range of needs.
The learning requirements of most students can be met within the mainstream classroom by the use of flexible teaching styles and suitably differentiated materials and strategies.
Where necessary, additional intervention may include adaptation of the curriculum, in-class support and/or withdrawal.

Learning Support will become involved where one or more of the following categories of need has been identified.
- English as a Foreign Language
- Gifted / Highly Able
- Learning Difficulties
- Specific Learning Difficulties
- Emotional / Behavioral Problems
- Medical / Physical
In addition, the services of an outside Speech and Language Therapist / Dyslexia Tutor are available two days per week and, if required, private assessments can be arranged through an independent, private Educational Psychologist.
